Its monday night. The start of week numero sette.
SO.. the last few weeks my feelins and emotions have been like a rollercoaster. I have felt really happy, because I am starting to understand so well and it is very exciting! I have felt sad because I found out my best friend is moving like 3 houses down from my home in Utah, and I wanted to be there so bad! Annoyed because here, when it comes to food, the answer no is not accepted. "LAURIE try this green stuff that smells like garbage! Laurie try this fish, I am sure you will like this fish!" no..I still don't like fish and I dont enjoy eating things that look like they have been regurgitated. BUT DON'T worry. I always try new things at least once. That is good enough right? Also, I have been frustrated that I am not fluent and don't speak perfect Italian.. which I know that is ridiculous, but I am just so anxious!! ON the brighter side, all a sudden my days got so much better! 2 weeks ago I was very bored and worring that my time was being waisted...but this last week was great! I wasn't bored at all! I listened to all saturdays conference session online and even watched a few on Sandras computer. I did a lot of financial lit (my annoying online class that I have to finish to graduate). Also I downloaded and watched the first two episodes of my favorite TV show smallville. But the quality was horrible, so I will just have to wait until I return to finish the season haha. OK, other things I did, Monday Sandra and I went shopping in a big, beautiful, new outdoor mall called La Corte del Sole. It was fun, very nice shops, very cool mall. After we went grocery shopping and bought all the ingrediants for chocolate chip cookies because Francy always tells Sandra they are so good, and that she has to try them. So she insisted I make them. Of course, that was fine with me, so I did!(more details on when I get to friday haha) Oh, I can't forget...... at the grocery store... I turned acorner.......and BEHOLD! I FOUND SKIPPY! Blessed skippy. Peanut butter has never tasted so wonderful. On we go....Tuesday I went to an aerobics class with Sandra. It was funny.. I am not a big fan of aerobics classes and such. But it was ok. And Sandra was very happy I went with her. That night..practice. Volleyball is still great. I am gettin better! Wednesday...normal day...Thursday I tried the step class with Sandra, and then volleyball. Friday, no school, because me and the 13 other exchange students went and visited a very old, famous, big, agricultural school in Cagliari. It was so interesting! I have never seen or been to one before. It was this huge, old school on a farm with every crop and plant imaginable haha. It was so to see these students just out in the field working..or in the classrooms studying plants haha..all learning to be farming technitions or whatever. Crazy! We also saw all the machinery used to make wine. We also went to the vinard and cut grapes off the vine, so they could show us how the machines worked! At the end of the day, everyone got to taste test different wines. They was delicious! Just kidding. I would not know, I politly declined all. But the others said it was good. Then they gave us all our own bottle. yippy, just what I wanted.
Back at home Friday afternoon, I made the beautiful chocolate chip cookies!!! Haha it was fun. I had a little audiance, Sandra and nonna, they were very interested in the complicated art of making american chocolate chip cookies. Anyways, they turned out great and everyone that tried them liked them a lot. Even Giuseppe. Ok Saturday....school. ...then a big lunch for nonna 's birthday! Brava. After, I went to my friend (my favorite friend I have met so far) Ilaria’s house. I met her mom and sister and grandma, we all had dinner, then just hung out talked and all that. Then me and Ilaria went to a birthday party of one of our friends from school. It was interesting..it was at this ..like big empty store house... there were drinks and food. Music. Just people talking dancing, hanging out. Typical party. Except more smoking and drinking I guess. It was alright..kind of lame. But thats ok. I still like meeting new people and being with friends. After I went home and slept. Sunday I woke up nice and early, got ready, and went to church! LDS church. It was great. I was so happy to go to Cagliari and see that red brick building that was so familiar to me. The floors were tiled in the whole building, like all the floors here. The chapel didn't have benches but chairs in rows. It was so interesting to hear the prayers and sacrament prayers and talks and hymns in Italian, I loved it. Everyone was very nice of course. We are going to figure out the bus schedule so I can go to church often. There were 6 other youngwoman, the ward was small of course. I think there are 3 or 4 branches on the whole island.... so weird! Not your new ward on every block in Utah! After, we spent time with family.
Well theres last week for you! Other than that, the weather got way cold all a sudden! brrrrr. I start the Italian course with Rotary tomorrow, I am very excited. Life is fantastic, it is getting busier, I am getting more involved, I understand better, I love my family, friends, the food..my Italian is improving... and basta! (thats all for now!)
Until next blog-

Lunedì
Goooodddnessss haven't you guys forgotten about me yet? Do I really still have to keep updating this?
jussssttt kidding. I will tell you anything you want to know.
well..what do you want to know? any requests? if so, email me...soccer_rocker44@hotmail.com.... and until then... I'll just start babbling!
My Monday (Lunedì)
I woke up on my small, firm bed, sprawled with my arms and legs off the sides (just how I like it) to the tune of my alarm clock on my phone. The sun was shining brightly through my large window on the opposite wall. Today I woke up at 7:30. Mornings that I didn't shower the night before, I wake up at 7:15. So, I got up, opened the window to air let the fresh air in (that is what I have been told to do everymorning. its pleseant) and then headed to the bathroom. I washed my face, then walked around the corner to the kitchen. I was not wearing any shoes, which is actually not normal. Here in Sardegna, you wear sandels around the house or slippers, because the doors get dirty fast because of dust and other things. So you don't want your feet to get dirty! But I dont really care. Anyways...mm breakfast..what shall I have today? I though. Well guess what! Sandra is the best..she now buys me "latte fresca." FRESH MILK! NORMAL YUMMY MILK THAT GOES BAD and has an experation date under a year long!! YAY!! It. tastes. so. good. SO I had me a glass of that, with two pieces of mini toast (no nutella today..man I'm good) and a banana. Then I got ready for school...Sandra was running on the tredmill...Nonna downstairs....Peppucio (giuseppes nick name) off at work. Normal morning. I finish getting ready about 5 minutes before the bell rings, but don't worry, we buz open the gate, walk down the steps, climb into Sandra's adorable mini neongreen car, and off to school I go, through the doors, to my class. I am greated with CIAO CIAO CIAO LAURIE from everyone. So friendly, I love it.
PRIMA ORA ( i hope you can guess what that means) io ho avuto arte historia. I had art history. AHH I wish I understood better! I find it soo interesting! We learn about all the wonderful european art! I can't wait until I understand better in that class.. I think I will really enjoy it.
SECONDA ORA I had english. I am very impressed with my classmates. Allora, (so/listenup) here you have 2 englishes. English literature and history, and english the language class. I am impressed because the whole class the teacher speaks english. and the kids can follow so well! It really is impressive. Right now we are learning about the Tutors and humanism and the reformation and stuff. Good to know...Very interesting from an Italian point of view since it has a lot more to do with them than America (obviously) Anyways, I like my English teacher...she is good. Marta is her name.
TERZO ORA....hm my class had English Language.. so I went with prof. marta and we worked on some stuff...figured out my classes for this week.. etc. I don't stay in one class, like all the other students do of course, I have to switch according to what I need to study and my level. So yeah thats fun... soon we will have a final timetable and I will know my definate classes..but for now we have to plan out the days.
SO. I don't think i will be taking that all year. No thanks...
QUINTO ORA.. TEDESCO! german! my favorite class. I walk down the hall to the next classroom with Prima class. (first class... they are 13/14 years old) I love it all the little kids its fun! But its my favorite class because the teacher is MY FAVORITE and german relates better to english. My teacher is a tiny woman(young, like twenties for sure) with dyed red hair. Did I write that in my last blog? Can't remember. oh well. Anyways, I love her, and treats me like an adult.... kind of hard to explain. But yeah, my favorite class.
usually school ends then, at about 12:50. But twice a week we have an extra hour. Today was one of those great days.... Math.
worse.
PHYSICS!
Its another language class for me. One I have absolutly no idea or understanding of. I have never taken physics before...and I certainly have no idea what all those symbals and equations are leading up to..especially in italian. Nap time? yeah I think so. But luckly physics is only some classes. Most the time, basic algebra... hmm there we go. I'm smart again!
Bell rings... put my books in my bag....and out the door with my classmates! We walk down the street to a cute little piazza...a lot of kids go there, because its where the bus stop is..so those who live out of the town ride home, others like me hang out until I decide I'm ready to leave. Its fun I am becoming more talkative ( like my usual self..slowly its emerging...soon I will be bursting and talking a million miles per hour like them) Today my guy friends told me all about Italian soccer. wow.. All the positions, their names, and their roles here in Italy. Oh, then they had to go through and name all the best players for all the positions. Oh and then they outlined a few more plays. Then they ask me if i have heard of this player, or this player, or this player, etc etc. no..no.. no.. beckham? yes! haha. By the end of this year I will be an Italian soccer whiz. Hmm well then they start talking to eachother... I kind of trail away...then CIAO! im outa here. I walk down the little alleyways to my cute orangeish yellow house. Home sweet home. I buz in..and pranzo is cooking. Lunch. yum yum yum. what a great thing to come home to. a fabulous fresh meal. Today was skinny french bread (it changes everyday, really...so many kinds of bread) a really yummy green soup. i put little chunks of cheese and cut up tomatoes..tastes amazing. after I didn't feel like the sausage, so I just had lots of zuccini and juice. Perfect. For dessert, boiled apples... sounds weird... And I don't know what else is in the water...but ahh its so good. its like applesauce almost..but solid enough to keep the apple shape. Anyways, very good, perfect dessert.
We sat and talked at the table for an hour or so...then Sandra watches beautiful, a soap opera... or cleans something... I hang around for a little...go to my room to organize it...check the computer... study.... little things. Today I went running on the tredmill for 5 kilo's or something..woopie. Then I showerd, and got ready, and went out with my friend Giorgia. She came around the house at 6:30/7. We walked like 20 feet to the piazza..where everyone is there talking, enjoying life. Tonight it was really fuN! Usually I meet a few new people, talk here and there, but don't speak a whole lot..just kind of sit back and watch. But tonight I was just relaxed and being myself and talking a lot and stuff. It was good! So that was fun. Home again. Small dinner.. Some meet and vegetables and no bread for me tonight. Gota go easy sometimes. A few biscotti for my dessert... talk some more....help clear the table...and off to my room! Where I decided to write this.
Now...if you aren't bored out of your mind... something is wrong. But, I just thought I'd let you see a typical weekday. OH, there are different variations, promise.. but not to far off =)
life is good
I hope your excited to read about Tuesday tomorrow!
joking..

BREAK TIME go outside on these big cement steps around the courtyard. Beautiful weather..like I have said.. its perfect. so perfect you don't even think about it. Never too hot. or too cold. just right. Everyone pulls out there snacks and lights up. Woo hoo. I didn't bring a snack today, but usually jsut a pack of crackers or an apple. Typical. And of course I didn't light anything up. Bell rings 15 minutes, back to class.
QUARTO ORA Ruggeri... ah.... religion... you see... if this were a class teaching about different world religions I would find it so interesting! but a) its the school priest who is the teacher b) i cant understand him at all c) its him just..preaching the whole time.. from what I can get..SO. I don't think i will be taking that all year. No thanks...
